I passed the LEED Exam on the Mock Exam and LEED v4 BD&C by Gang Chen books alone. I just had these two books, and printed out the USGBC/ GBCI PDF's he recommends. I passed both the Green Associate and BD&C portions. All I did was spend a month on the GA portion, then the 2nd month on the BD&C portion using the above-mentioned materials and that's it. I do have experience as a Mechanical Engineer with LEED projects in the past (HVAC and Building Envelope Energy Calculations/ Modeling) which helped on the procedural stuff, but Gang Chen's books cover this also. Get a highlighter so you're more engaged with what you're reading (slowly) and you'll be fine.Review your highlights a week-and-a-half prior to the exam and follow the author's advice on test prep. The Mock Exam book gives you an excellent "feel" for the test questions (which felt familiar in style on the actual exam), and the questions themselves had info in them that came in handy on the actual test.

This is a solid practice test for the LEED AP BD&C exam. There are two tests in the book...the first test is the same GA mock exam as the one in the GA Mock Exam book(so definitely no need to buy BOTH mock exam books, just the BD&C). The second test in the book is the BD&C one. It is somewhat harder than the actual exam (which I passed). The answer explanations in the back are well explained!! It does ask a significant amount of refrigerant questions though...which there might have been two on the actual exam (but the heads up the book provided was appreciated).This book asks questions like:(Choose 3):A. Answer 1B. Answer 2C. Answer 3D. Answer 4E. Answer 5While the exam asks questions like:(Choose 1):A. Answer 1, Answer 2, Answer 3B. Answer 2, Answer 3, Answer 4C. Answer 5, Answer 1, Answer 3D. Answer 1, Answer 2, Answer 5

Very disappointing. It's almost identical to the GA practice exam book?! I need a refund for this

I passed the test after using this guide!

I don't know how this book is getting such great reviews. The questions really didn't help me with the actual exam (which I passed the first time). The first part of the exam, which we all know is the LEED Green Associate exam. The questions in the first part of the book are exactly alike from his other book "LEED GA Mock Exams (V4)". So, I basically bought the half of the same book I've already had. The BD+C questions are okay but the answers sometimes don't make sense. The book also contains a lot of errors towards the end. It's like they just gave up proofreading everything and sent it out.You should probably spend the extra $30.00 and buy a review question package online. Usually they have a lot more questions (around 500) and with clear and concise answers. This book just seems poorly written and not worth the money.

There are definitely greater products out there that can facilitate the reinforcement of knowledge in the LEED field. This product does not explain the reasoning for the arbitrary answers that the author states.

If you're going to buy practice exams, use a website like gbes. I bought the mock exam book, but the questions were not that close to the actual exam.

I will shamelessly admit that I bought and read the book hoping for some good locker room dirt and the book certainly delivers some pretty good scoop.What I got out of the book:Jose Canseco considers himself a victim of discrimination and "celebrity". He has a grudge against MLB and he takes it out squarely on Mark McGwire - MLB's golden boy during the Canseco era.Canseco defends his steroid use and is proud to be the go-to-guy for other players on how to use them, combine them, and inject them.He names names and tells their story. One name he mentions as a steroid user absolutely broke my heart. He mentions Clemens in the book too and for some reason I think there's a deeper story there. I hope it comes to light once Clemens own saga with Steroids is resolved.I'm glad I read the book. I gave it three stars because its a light read and I didn't wish for the 4 hours back that I spent reading it.

Jose Canseco is a controversial figure, this much we know is true; everything else is kind of unclear.Professional athletes looking for an edge - an illegal edge - is as old as professional sports, but things took a terrible turn in the late 1980's when a young Cuban immigrant named Jose Canseco broke into the big leagues with the Oakland A's.After a turbulent career, things only got stranger for the proclaimed godfather of steroids. So in his book Juiced, Canseco lays outs his life, his career, and his role in introducing baseball to infamous world of steroids. I honestly tried to sympathize with Canseco's situation, but in the end I still found Canseco to be an egotistical, has been looking for honor and glory.Canseco credits himself as the savior of baseball and revolutionary who will one day be honored when professional sports accept steroids. Though I can understand his "savior" of baseball argument considering the 1994 MLB strike and the 1998 home run chase, I cannot comprehend the declaration that steroids will one day be as customary as ice packs and sunflower seeds. Perhaps I am a little too present-minded and traditional to see professional sports encouraging steroids.While reading Juiced, I got confused on whom the real Jose Canseco is. At one moment he talks about baseball as if it is just a means to an end, then a few chapters later he treats the sport as if it is a religion. He credits steroids for making him a great athlete, but later explains that he is the talent and that steroids only supplemented his abilities. He considers himself a steroids expert but never once does he considered the idea that his use of performance enhancing drugs may have multiplied his trips to the disabled list.As much as he tries to fool you, Canseco did not know what he was doing. For a steroid enhanced athlete, he had a few fantastic seasons but a forgettable career. If it was not for the steroid controversy the name Jose Canseco would have lost to long list of notable rookies with lackluster careers.Though my feelings for Canseco may be sour, I did find the book interesting as a time capsule. When you read it today in the post-steroid era, you really do see how much the owners, the union, and the fans all turned a very, very blind eye to the issues. Everyone is to blame for the steroid era, yet only the players get the guilty verdict.

"Juiced" is the story of Jose Canseco's no holds barred account of his years in MLB. Told in a conversational and informative way he weaves an accurate and telling account of his personal use of steroids, his experiences as an émigré from Castro's Cuba and how a promise to his Mother on her deathbed led a young Jose to become one of the most controversial and exciting figures in America's favorite pastime, Major League Baseball!I hadn't expected this type of book from Jose Canseco! I thought I'd be reading about the Jose the media choked us with for so many years. The egotistical bad boy that everyone loved to hate but had to watch in spite of it all. What interested me was the scoop on steroids but I wasn't certain I could get through a book which had Senor Rooster preening himself in every other sentence! What a shock I had as I began to turn the pages.This is no ordinary jock who is cocky and self-assured. This is a man who knew exactly what he was doing every moment he was doing it and with tremendous results. He was far from self-assured as he was growing up and throughout his years in the game. He educated himself about the different types of steroids and HGH, how they interacted with one another, how the body & liver processes these dangerous chemicals and came up with a regimen that suited his body and its functions to the proverbial "T" and more. He shared his knowledge with other players allowing them the same advantages he was experiencing and always cautioned them to use these enhancers responsibly.He named names of players he absolutely had first hand knowledge of using these chemicals. He knew because he injected them himself and those he wasn't certain of ever taking them, he mentioned only in passing as those he had spoken to about the chemicals. Mark McGwire had the lions share of references in the book since they were teammates on the Oakland A's and Jose used to inject him. Without giving too much away at this point, he does mention those players who went overboard on usage and gives a straightforward look into what steroids have done and can do for baseball and all sports.The revelation of this book is that I felt I understand Jose Canseco and why he did what he did. I came through to the last pages and knew I liked this man and no longer blamed him for what he knew in his heart and mind was right to do for himself. I applaud his honesty about himself, his decisions and overt head in the sand attitude by the entire MLB organization from the Commissioner's, team owners, managers, players and the way down to the bottom rung of the staffs. Fantastic book which illuminates so much of what we are conditioned to view as acceptable design standards. Indeed, our personal biases and cultural upbringing influence the work we do in such a significant way. A few typos here and there, but otherwise a highly enjoyable and educational read, with lovely examples throughout. I enjoy the size of the book, as it is easy to slip into a purse and read on the daily commute.

I loved this book and I've been interested in the topic since it was first mentioned by another author I really like. It's not very dense, I could have easily read the whole thing in one sitting. It has a lot of pictures and talks about controversial design from a variety of case studies. I like how he took something that could have easily been boring and academic, and made it into a fun read.

Excellent book, I would recommend to anyone looking for a brief introduction to many interesting topics of conversation. Well put together and included accessible language.

An incredibly eye opening book and must read for anyone who makes things. Makes you deeply consider the implications of every design choice on the population interpreting or being exposed to your design. Very practical and useful book for anyone designing or making something for anyone other than themselves. Each section had footnotes and references for further reading.

Outstanding primer on contemporary design issues from a global perspective. Recommended highly, and very readable even for those without a formal design background.

I've read another of his books before and it was also 'ok.' While insightful this was a little too scientific-y for my mind, and I've got a couple of science degrees and am a HARD-CORE armature naturalist,who's very picky about correct classifications of species and all that jazz! There's a lot of scientific jargon with little 'down-to-Earth' explanations; it's almost like you have to know anatomical psychology to really get a grasp on much of the subject matter and with bird's brains no less! While there are diagrams, it's at the end of the book, which I found frustrating having to flip back and forth to know what was being explained with the bazillions of neural pathway explanations for the various behaviors outlined. There are good parts, though, with anecdotes and scientific explanations used to back up the possible reasons for the displayed behavior. To be fair, I've read several corvid books and have yet to find one that REALLY hits the spot for me. I think I'd like one that explains the life-cycle of various corvids along with explanations of the behavior or traits worth pointing out, like, what are physical/behavioral differences between male and female corvids? Do only females participate in auxillary/nest helper behavior in American crows? Do other species of corvids display auxillary/helper behavior? Why do Northern ravens have such distinct, noticeable nasal 'bristles' compared to other corvids? Why aren't ravens found in super-urbanized places like American crows? Why are American black-billed magpies only found in the western and central U.S. and not the eastern or southern half? Why does the Yellow-billed magpie only lives in a certain local of California and no where else? Why aren't Blue Jays found in the western U.S. and why aren't Stellar's jays not found in the eastern half? Why do only Northern ravens perform aerial acrobatic feats?, etc., THIS would be a meaty, juicy book for me!

i learned so much from this book,not just about crows but about all birds.if you don't like crows, you'll at least end up respecting them after reading this. and you'll be far more informed about the natural world.on the other hand, if you don't like going outside and don't care for nature and prefer casinos and malls and TV, then you're hopeless and you should just jump off a cliff.a bit dense in its analysis/explanation of the neurobiology of bird/crow brains, but you can follow it, i think. i have an unfair advantage inasmuch as i have a solid medical/anatomy/physiology background.

I got this book for the Kindle, and wanted to read it myself. However, my spouse, who was not so much a bird person, took a liking to it, and loaded it to his Kindle first.For the past two weeks as he's read this book, I get daily reports of how interesting the book is, how amazing these birds are, and what great anecdotes the author includes. The crows really do bring "gifts" to people they like. And they remember people as well.The book goes into a bit of the brain structure and in depth about genetically as well. When I read it, I may skip over the more technical and scientific aspects of the work. But I am happy to report that my observations about bird behavior, their habits and likes and fears, dovetails with what this author presents based on science and experiments, not just a layman's observations. I'm very pleased to report that my spouse has dropped the expression "bird brain" to indicate someone without cognitive powers. Now in our household there are two bird lovers.When I have a chance to read it, I'll update it from my non-scientific point of view. But, for all the good conversation it has already stimulated, it is worth reading.

Iâ€™m only half-way through, and I know some experts on the matter may have different standards from which to judge the material. So it may be less than helpful for me to judge too soon, but OH MY goodness this is already everything I ever wanted to know about Crows and then some!!! If you are starting out with a genuine interest in Corvids (especially Crows), or are trying to convince someone about their amazing value, then this will more than satisfy that goal!!!! The audible book is very well narrated and the material seems to be well organized, and is surprisingly comprehensive, without being too dry. I am alight with this new and supporting information! Highly recommended!!!

The stories. research and questions raised in this book have stayed with me long after I finished it a year ago. I've already bought two more copies to give to my younger family members who are curious about these intelligent birds. This research has changed the way I listen to and look at crows. Now I take note of their social networking, their language and their covert interest in what I'm doing. I've grown more curious and interested as a result of this book. The chapters on brain and anatomy are beyond my High School understanding of biology but I was able to get through them because of other books on health and the human brain I've read as an adult. I'm so glad to find researchers who can relate to me as a member of the general population. Also, I'm thrilled that someone is dedicated so much effort and thought into bridging the human-animal gap. Thank you Dr. Marzluff and colleagues!

This book is THE book if you're interested in learning about crows. Worth a read, probably better than any other book on the subject considering this is written by/with someone who studied them and clearly has a lot of insight on them. The super deep stuff like the anatomy of the crow brain can be boring if you aren't interested, just skim those parts, the whole book is still worth the read.

I really love this book! So much that I accidentally ordered it again thinking it was a new edition. Therefore, it was a little letdown but not due to the publication itself.I am a crow person through and through. John Marzluff and his team's have written an interesting and entertaining book. Fitting for their subject bird.I am waiting for the right person to give this copy to.
